My Love For Scrapbooking

Scrapbooking
Yes, I just had to write a post about my love for scrapbooks. I've been doing it since as long I can remember, well the 9th of September 2006 , when I was 9 years old to be exact (just used said scrapbooks to find date!)
To me, a scrapbook is such a creative and wonderful way to commemorate memories, because really there's only so much you can remember off the top of your head. Ok, it may be a bit lame keeping that train ticket after a movie you saw, or a that receipt of a burger from a random day out. But to me, they're things that made me happy at that exact point in my life. A stupid photo of me and my friend we took, yes we may look hideous, but in 10 years time, I my look back on that photo and a millions memories my flood back. Don't get me wrong, I don't scrapbook EVERYTHING that goes on in my life, because quite frankly, I don't get up to anything extraordinary every single week. But to put together a collage regularly of highlights, or happenings, really is something lovely to look back on.
I'm telling you now, if your having a bit of a shitty day, looking back on a scrapbook of 'random crap', will almost instantly lift your spirits. You'd be surprise how much a stupid photo of you and friends looking hideous, will put smile back on your face.

Content
For me, my scrapbooks aren't necessarily all photographs I've taken myself. To be all technical, my scrapbooks are 'mixed media', meaning they are a mix of photos, ripped out magazines and little knick-knacks I've pick up along the way. I absolutely love collecting things, if I'm on a day out in a city somewhere for instance, keeping random bits such as a ticket or a leaflet, really illustrates your time there. Magazines are the same, I read lots of magazines such as LOOK or ELLE, and obviously there are lots of beautiful photos in them. So I could literally make a page in my scrapbook about what clothes or things I like at the moment.
I often look back at my old scrapbook from about 5 years ago, and its always interesting to see how much your style has changes, I literally used to like cutting out pictures of neon pink clothes.. what was I thinking!

As my actual scrapbook, I don't like having big books as I feel its harder to fill the pages up and make it look nice. I'm a bit of a perfectionist and although my scrapbook doesn't have to look amazing, like I'm not getting marked on it for personal presentation, I still like each page to look nice. So, I recently bought this little-bit-larger than A5 notebook, I find these sizes so much better because I can fit everything I want, without there being massive white gaps (the horror)
Plus the fact this one has 'Random Crap' written on it, is just great, because to everyone else, the content is absolute crap, but I'm a sentimentalist so its anything but crap to me!

The End Result
So here is an example of a previous page in my old scrapbook that I finished just after Christmas. As you can see its not amazing, but its personal to me. This is a page form March/April time last year, and I've highlighted the fact I passed my driving test (a massive achievement for me!) Like I've mentioned, I've used a mix of personal photos, magazine snippets as well as little things I've collected. Thinking of this right now, its almost a year ago, which makes me do the cliché 'where has the time gone, eh?'!!

So if you've made it this far, well done. That's my love for scrapbooks out in the open!
If you're not the sentimentalist then you've probably rolled your eyes at all the above, but to you who are, I hope you have a wonderful books to look back on in years to come and can either laugh or cringe at all the fun things you've done!!

Artin'

Final Design 1

Final Design 2

So, here is one of the many reasons for my (very) inconsistent blogging recently - BLOODY A LEVEL ART. Yes, these are my finished pieces for my coursework that, thank the lord, has to be submitted this Friday.
I thought I'd put up these photographs up for me really, because in a year or two, if I'm still blogging, then it'll be nice to look back on what I created in my final year of school (I smile as I type 'final')
I won't bother going into detail about every single element of these, because I'm literally sick of typing the reasons (I've just finished a 5 page evaluation explaining these buggers!)
But simply, my subject matter surrounded 'Gender Stereotyping' and how if women don't fit the stereotype created by society, they are labelled 'out of place'
So yes, here are my final pieces.
I agree that they aren't amazing, I'm not the best artist in the world I know, but they're finished now and to be honest I just want to be rid of them haha!

(can you sense by my tone that I'm reeeeally done with school, LOL)

Mid-January 2015 | Favourites

Five Favourites from the month of January 2015.
Ted Baker Candle | Miami
Candles. a cliché for any girl nowadays, my bedroom is full of them, and after receiving this off a certain Mr Claus I have yet another to burn during them cold winter nights. Its definitely a strong smelling candles, but because it smells so fresh - (star apple and passion fruit says the website) it definitely hits you when you walk in a room. To be honest, you don't really need to light it, because when its just unlit at my desk, I often get wafts of the scent! You did gooood Ted Baker, very good in candle making!
I may be a tiny bit late on the ol'bandwagon with this one, since it seems to have been raved about since pretty much FOREVER. But, my god talked about a beautiful set of shades. I'm just in ore over how beautiful the colours are and how well they stay on the lids. I'll admit, I'm not a Smokey Eye girl, even a dab of dark brown and my eyes resort to the size of pin heads (yep, god wasn't kind in given us all those smouldering big eyes, damn you Mila Kunis!) Meaning my eyes are a constant light-eyeshadow-zone and this palette is PERFECT for that! Out of the 12 shades, I'd say 10 of them accommodate my need for light shades, so if your a light eyed girl like me, go grab it now!
Another year, another new lipstick, that's never going to change. This was another Christmas present off my mum and yano, the women did good this year! Unlike many of my other lipstick, this is what they call a 'Satin Finish' Lipstick (god knows lol) Because I've never tried this type before, I thought it felt quite funny, because it feels moisturising but at the same time feels as if its going to rub off in a heartbeat... but it doesn't. But, the more I wear it I've come to accept the strange texture and I haven't stopped wearing it throughout this month, well since Christmas day really..!
Moving on from beauty, here is my third love (after coffee and lipstick duh!) ... Fruit/Herbal Tea. I just feel they are so hydrating and when you combine the tastiness of Raspberries you definitely on for a winner! This tea is like THEE nicest smelling tea you'll ever smell, its seriously amazing! I've basically drank it everyday and am like a few bags away from finishing, so it'll be on the next shopping list I can tell you that!
Now, this isn't your average beauty person who talks about how much they love foundation via prettily lit videos. This is a COMPLETELY different YouTube channel and its all in the aid of relaxation. Seriously, Maria,  the women behind this amazing channel, creates videos all with whispered voice and helps you to have what is called 'brain tingles'. Its a sensation called ASMR, its quite hard to describe. But its a sensation which causes you to relax... what more do you need in life, eh? All I've been doing recently is sit with a hot drink, with headphones in watching her videos on my IPad. She creates videos with different tapping and crinkling sounds, which I know does sound a little strange, but if you've never watch a video like this before, watch one with an open mind, because not everyone finds these relaxing... but boy, I seriously do!

Forgive me please..

HAPPY 2015!
Before I start rambling, this post is primarily going to consist of me talking about my lack of blogging and the topic that is hotly moaned about on this blog... school. So if you're fashion or beauty lover, no luck with this post I'm afraid.

Yano, just writing that short paragraph then makes me miss having time to actually blog about things. I say this because school at the moment is heavy going, and I mean heavy.going. That this why I'm writing this post, to kind of justify why I've been so shitty in photographing/writing ANYTHING consistently on here since probably September time.
I feel, in life the things you do is all down to matter of priority and blogging isn't mine at the moment, finishing and passing my A Levels is. Meaning, taking time out of my studies and taking 20 photos of a lipstick isn't going to get me that A in Sociology or a B in Art (seriously, I've tried and it really won't!)
So the moral to this short story is, although my brain is constantly thinking 'www that would make a great photo' or 'I could blog about that' I need to prioritise my school work. After all, if it turns out I get three U's in my final results, I don't think having a moderately nice blog would justify it.

But, I've made the decision to take a gap year after A Levels and during that time BLOGGING is going to be my priority. So if there is anyone out there who likes this corner of the internet, then your welcome to return in September when I officially start my gap year and attempt to create a MUCH better blog then what's running right now...

adios for now amigos x
